Satan's Goals and Methods
Read Mark 4:14-15, Luke 22:31-32, 1 Thessalonians 2:18 and 1 Peter 5:8. What is Satan's goal in the believer's life?
Now read Genesis 3:13, 2 Corinthians 11:14 and 1 Thessalonians 2:9. What methods does he work to accomplish that goal?
How has Satan deceived you in the past?
How has Satan tried to take away the seed of God's Word that has been planted in your life?
As you read and meditate on these questions, remember - we read in Job that Satan had to come and stand before God. He has no power and no authority of his own. He was and is still completely under the authority of our infinitely GOOD GOD!!
As David Guzik wrote, "The fact that 'Satan . . . came among them' shows that Satan is himself an angelic being, and in no way equal to God. We often - to his great delight - inflate Satan’s status and importance, thinking of him as the opposite of God, as if God were light and Satan were darkness; as if God were hot and Satan were cold. Satan WISHES he was the opposite of God, but God wants us to know that Satan is a MERE CREATURE, and is in no way the opposite of God. If Satan has an opposite, it is not God the Father or God the Son; it would be a high-ranking angelic being such as Michael." (emphasis added)
Satan is in no way a credible rival or challenger to God's own throne. God has no true rival or challenger - He alone holds all power and might! He alone has all authority! Jesus said, "...In this world you will have trouble. Be take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33b
