Welcome! I assume you've picked up a copy of the book Holding On To Hope by Nancy Guthrie from the church office or that you already have one at home. We will be covering the Bible study on Job in the back of this book. The questions given below are taken directly from this Bible study. You will want to read through them and make some notes as we will cover questions from Weeks 1 & 2 in our first get-together on July 23rd! Please read through the Introduction to the Bible Study either in your book or from the blog-posting below.
Try also to skim through the book of Job in your Bible and to do as much of the Daily Study portion from the book as you can. This isn't necessary to answer the questions below, but will give you a great overview and make the study much more meaningful as we launch into a more detailed study.
Your comments and questions left on this blog will be greatly appreciated, as they will help us all to prepare for our time together.
Be sure to check back each Monday for the new list of discussion questions. You may also sign up to follow this blog - Then you will be notified each time there is a new posting.
You may leave questions for me on the blog or you may call me at the church with them. I look forward to sharing this journey with you!
Praying always for you,
Sarah
Week 1
Job: History's Most Significant Sufferer
Small Group Discussion Questions
1. What is your impression of Job based on what you already know about him?
2. What questions do you have about Job before we begin our study?
3. What aspects of Job's experience and interaction with God make you most uncomfortable or leave you with significant questions?
4. Most of us are uncomfortable with Job's story because we fear suffering in our own life or because we've experienced significant suffering in our own life. If you feel comfortable doing so, finish this sentence...
The suffering God has allowed into my life includes... OR
The suffering that I fear the most is...
5. What do you hope you will gain from investing your time and effort in the group sessions and in the daily Bible study involved with this study of Job?
